Karen is the owner and managing broker of KL Realty, and has more than 29 years of experience in the Boulder County real estate market. She completed an MBA in finance at the University of Colorado (CU), Boulder, and then obtained her stockbroker’s license and worked in finance before founding KL Realty in 1988. With her business background, Karen specializes in providing clients with sound buying/selling financial advice, and has a knack for structuring creative transactions. Karen’s level of expertise and ingenuity has led to her handling some of the largest and most complex real estate transactions in the area.

John grew up in southern Africa and obtained a degree in civil engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. After working as an engineering consultant, he ran a construction company for 15 years before immigrating to the U.S. The skills acquired from his years in the engineering industry add to the diverse capabilities of the KL team and provide clients with an expert on board when dealing with complicated inspection issues. John also owned, operated and guided a photographic safari operation in Zimbabwe, and is an excellent photographer.

With a background in marketing from the University of Virginia, sustainable agriculture at CU Boulder, and property development, Alexandra brings a strategic and creative lens to every listing. She manages KL Realty’s digital marketing, branding, and content creation—ensuring each property is presented with care, clarity, and impact. Alexandra also supports client relations and on-site property preparation. A Colorado transplant with deep respect for land stewardship, she splits her time between KL Realty, graduate school, and her farm in Longmont.
