Changing of the Guard
Our principle in the office has been selling farms for longer than we would care to admit, and the farmers of yesteryear have all but moved on. The seasoned farmers in the game are now younger than we are but there is a fresh wave of protagonists in the business with new views, techniques and markets in mind. Locally grown—and organic—produce is the name of the game. We can expect hay prices to rise, not because of supply and demand but simply because it costs quite a bit of money to produce. In the words of Sheryl Crow no-one said it was easy and anyone who has tried their hand at producing the crop can testify to this. We need to be thankful for all those working the land and do our bit to keep them in business.
