Dog Distractions
Our dogs never cease to amaze us and make us laugh a lot. There is no such thing as a transition from sleep to wake. It is instantaneous. The younger one greets every day with boundless joy but the elder sage knows we do mundane things like ablute and brush teeth before anything exciting may happen, so he bides his time. But crack the front door or the cookie closet and he will be there in a tick. Then the daily routine starts. Same old drive, same old walk, maybe some new smells, but the dogs’ sensors are at full alert and the tails are windmills. The turn signal triggers a reaction that perhaps a trail lies ahead. Like first time at the seaside as a kid. And, boy, that peskie wabbit gets its daily once-around-the-block when we get there.
